MAEER's, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) was founded by Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, (Founder, Executive President and Director General) along with the collective efforts of many Educationists, Scientists and Social thinkers in the year 1983. MIT is among the first in professional education offering academic programs at more than 36 institutions for over 55000 students annually. MIT has excelled in the field of education and is known today as one of the foremost centres of education and learning not only in India but the world over. For its thousands of students it has been a gateway to a professional life. To meet the demands of changing and challenging global environment, MIT offers academic programs in Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Management and Insurance in the classroom as well as distance learning mode.
A strong professional base, a first class system of tutorial support, and a wide and imaginativerange of support services supplements the core distance education provision. The specialist staff inspires, motivates, supports and educates the students. The courses are open learning rather than distance learning and students are not left studying at home in isolation, but automatically made a part of the MIT association. MIT School of Distance Education (MITSDE) courses are completely flexible. Students can begin whenever they like and take 1.5 times more that of a classroom program. MITSDE provides the teaching modules together with assignment support via telephone and e-mail
